A warning flare is not a trade
Why deterioration in market internals changes the evidence without automatically changing the position. Divergence is information, not instruction. Weakening breadth, momentum, or participation can raise risk well before price confirms it. The analytical task is distinguishing a developing warning from an actionable change in structure.

Deterioration in internals changes the evidence. It does not automatically change the position. That distinction is the difference between a process and a reflex.
Weakening breadth, momentum, or participation can raise risk well before price confirms it. The tape is allowed to do that. A useful reading names the condition, states what it would take to turn the condition into a structural change, and waits for that evidence. A poor reading converts the first fracture into a transaction.
Divergence is information, not instruction.
Warning versus structure
A developing warning is internal disagreement inside an intact structure. An actionable change is a break of that structure, confirmed by the internals that had already been weakening. Same pictures can sit in either category. Context decides which.
If the higher-timeframe trend is intact, a daily divergence is a flare — noted, sized in the risk discussion, not treated as a mandate to exit. If the higher-timeframe trend is already losing its path, the same divergence is corroboration. The overlay is what makes that distinction possible.
What has to be true next
The analytical task is to write down what would confirm the warning and what would dismiss it. Confirmation looks like failed follow-through, a break of the working path, and internals that continue to deteriorate after the break. Dismissal looks like participation returning and the path holding.
Until one of those arrives, the honest sentence is often: the evidence has changed; the structure has not. That is a complete reading. It is not a hesitation to decide. It is the decision.
